Together We Made It Happen: 1,000 Meals Donated

Nipun Mehta in his inspiring TEDx Talk " Can We Create Social Change Without Money? " talks about cultivating different forms of wealth: "If money is our only metric, we begin to assume that everything has a price tag -- and in the process, we lose track of the priceless."

So how could we tap into priceless to create social change? How could we take one tiny step to make an impact today? Perhaps, the answer would be in this beautiful quote by Leo Buscaglia: "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

A smile , a kind word, an honest compliment, the smallest act of caring ... Pause and think about these priceless possibilities...

That's how one small step became something much bigger. Through our Empowering Community: One Book at a Time, One Meal at a Time initiative, we partnered with the San Diego Food Bank. For every e-book or paperback purchased in January 2022, we donated five meals to help local families facing food insecurity—resulting in our commitment to provide 1,000 meals to the community!
